1979 4001-S features include: Cresting wave shaped headstock, Kluson riveted tuners with phillips head screws, black plastic bushings and shims under the tuner plates, raised logo on white or black plastic truss rod cover (plexiglass on left hand models), pearloid dot fret markers, glued in neck with skunk stripe, 20 frets, no binding, four pole neck pickup, four pole bridge pickup including cover and chrome surround, white or black pickguard, black heptagonal shaped knobs with words on silver tops, 3 way pickup toggle switch, chrome bridge assembly including mutes, mono input jack plate, black Tolex case with blue or red interior, strapholder.
