1979 Ric 3001 features: Small headstock, black truss rod cover with raised letters logo, riveted tuners with Phillips head screws and black plastic shims under the tuner plates, bolt on neck with skunk stripe, 20 fret rosewood board with pearloid dot fret markers, chrome 4 bolt neckplate, one hum cancelling single coil pickup covered in black plastic, one ply black pickguard, three black speed knobs, chrome bridge assembly including mutes, black case.
The letters on the chrome mono input jack plate determine the year and month of production. The digits indicate the number of production. Some examples of 1979 Rickenbacker serial numbers are:
