1976 Ric 3001 features: Small headstock, black or white plastic truss rod cover with raised letters logo, dual truss rods, riveted tuners with Phillips head screws and black plastic shims under the tuner plates, bolt on maple neck including skunk stripe, 20 fret rosewood board and pearloid dot fret markers, chrome 4 bolt neckplate, one single coil pickup covered in black plastic, black or white one ply pickguard, three black heptagonal shaped knobs with silver tops, CTS potentiometers, green capacitor, chrome bridge assembly including mutes, strapholders, black case with blue or orange interior.

The letters on the chrome mono input jack plate determine the year and month of production. The digits indicate the number of production. Some examples of 1976 Rickenbacker serial numbers are:
