In 1975 the student model 3001 was reintroduced, (an unsuccessful first launch occurred in 1971).

1975 Ric 3001 features: Small headstock, black truss rod cover with raised letters logo, riveted tuners with slot-head screws and black plastic shims under the tuner plates, bolt on neck with 20 fret rosewood board and pearloid dot fret markers, chrome 4 bolt neckplate, one single coil pickup covered in black plastic, black one ply pickguard, three black heptagonal shaped knobs with silver tops, chrome bridge assembly including mutes, black case with blue interior.

The letters on the chrome mono input jack plate determine the year and month of production. The digits indicate the number of production. Some examples of 1975 Rickenbacker serial numbers are:
