In 1975 the student model 3000 was reintroduced, (an unsuccessful first launch occurred in 1971).
1975 Ric 3000 features: Small headstock, logo on truss rod cover, riveted tuners with slot-head screws, bolt-on neck with 21 fret rosewood board and pearloid dot fret markers, one single coil pickup covered in black plastic, Switchcraft input jack on black pickguard, two black heptagonal shaped knobs, CTS potentiometers, Sprague "orange drop" capacitor, chrome bridge assembly including mutes, black Tolex case with blue interior.
The letters on the chrome 4 bolt neckplate determine the year and month of production. The digits indicate the number of production. Some examples of 1975 Rickenbacker serial numbers are:
