Some Gibson 1968 Thunderbird IV non reverse Basses were fitted without the curved ebony thumb rest under G string.
Other 1968 non reverse Thunderbird IV characteristics: Gibson logo on black plastic truss rod cover, Kluson no-name riveted clover reverse tuners with slot head screws, serial number on headstock back, unbound rosewood 20 fret board with pearloid dot fret markers, two chrome pickups each with two phillips head height adjustment screws, chrome pickup cover, white/black/white pickguard with black bird logo, threesilver top/black witch hat shaped knobs including numbers, volume/tone words and metal position pointers, string mutes, four saddle adjustable bridge, chrome bridge cover, three screw tailpiece, input jack on body front, CTS potentiometers, orange drop capacitor, brass colored grounding shield in pots cavity, strapholder on body back, four or five screw plastic controls access cover on body back, Honduras mahogany body and neck, standard sunburst or custom color finishes, rectangular black tolex case with yellow interior.
