1976 G3 characteristics: Small V shaped black headstock with silkscreened gold logo including the "i" dot connected to the "G" and open "o", Schaller BM tuners with Gibson name on gear plate, "GRABBER 3 MADE IN U.S.A." and serial number embossed onto back of headstock, two screw plastic truss rod cover including the model name, no volute, 4 bolt maple neck with dovetail joint headstock, pearloid dot fret markers, Gibson name neck plate, input jack on black/white/black/white/black pickguard, three transparent plastic covered single coil pickups, three position pickup selector switch, chrome bridge cover, single slot saddle metal plate bridge, two black speed knobs including numbers and metal position markers, potentiometers, strings through body, molded tolex Gibson name case with pink or red interior.

Serial numbers were eight digits beginning with an "00" prefix, located on the headstock back. Gibson production totals show 455 Ebony, 9 Natural Maple Gloss, 751 Natural Satin, 143 Sunburst and 1 Wine Red Grabbers were shipped in 1976.
