1976 G1 Grabber characteristics: Small V shaped blonde headstock with silkscreened black logo including the "i" dot connected to the "G" and open "o", "GRABBER" BASS MADE IN U.S.A. and serial number usually embossed onto back of headstock, Schaller BM tuners with Gibson name on gear plate, or open gear tuners, three screw plastic truss rod cover including the model name, pearloid dot fret markers, 4 bolt maple neck with dovetail joint headstock and no volute, Gibson name neck plate, single ply black pickguard with foil shielding on underside, moveable black pickup including Gibson embossed logo, chrome bridge cover, single slot saddle metal plate bridge, three piece Alder body, two black speed knobs including numbers, input jack on pickguard, CTS potentiometers, "blue drop" capacitor, string through, contoured black case with Gibson name and pink or purple interior.

In 1976 serial numbers were usually eight digits beginning with an "00" prefix, located on the headstock back. Gibson production totals show 174 Ebony, 1082 Natural Satin, 16 White and 357 Wine Red Grabbers were shipped in 1976.
